Mengapa Emas Begitu Berharga?

Read more »

Properties of Gold

Gold (symbol Au) has an atomic number of 79, i.e., each gold atom has 79 protons in its nucleus. The atomic mass of the gold atom is 196.967, and the atomic radius is 0.1442 nanometers. Interestingly this is smaller than would be predicted by theory. The arrangement of outer electrons around the gold nucleus is related to gold’s characteristic yellow color. The color of a metal is based on transitions of electrons between energy bands. The conditions for the intense absorption of light at the wavelengths necessary to produce the typical gold color are fulfilled by a transition from the d band to unoccupied positions in the conduction band. Mistake #7 – Shooting for the moon

Solution:
Be realistic about your goals.

One of the biggest mistakes that can crop up in gold trading is getting caught up in the belief that there are unimaginable riches just waiting to be tapped. There is no promised glory land that will appear just because you want it bad enough. There is profit potential, and there is a risk of loss, but lay everything on the line searching for El Dorado and you risk disappointment as well. Mistake #6 – Trading with the herd

Solution:
Stick to your trading plan and your analysis.

It is easy to get caught up in the game. No matter what gold investment you are participating in, there is a lot of adrenaline and emotion that goes with trading. You should already have developed a trading plan, so sticking to it should be easy no matter what the crowd is doing. Note that this is different than trend following. What matters here is avoiding hype. The old trading adage, “Buy the rumor, sell the fact” speaks to the kind of over-inflated action that can crop up at times. Be wary of a stampede in one direction or another, and as long as your planned exits are not triggered, there is probably no reason to run.

Mistake #5 – Thinking local instead of global

Solution:
Gold is a global commodity - keep an eye on the big picture.

It is natural to look to the things you are familiar with when you are doing your analysis. For some investors, this means reading domestic news and weighing that within their price forecasts for gold. The problem is that the marketplace is global. One must be as aware of international news and economic forces that might play or weigh on the price of precious metals. Sure, gold is priced in
US dollars – but shifting concerns in the Euro zone or China are just as likely to move prices dramatically and bring market volatility. Read more »
